Hi Nick

The Braumeister's biggest flaw is that you are limited to about 13kg of malt in the maltpipe. If you want to make 50L of barleywine you have to add DME or brew a smaller batch. The biggest advantage is that your brewday i mostly "hands off" you are free to do other stuff while the braumeister takes care of the rest. It beep's when it needs help, like adding hops, inserting the immersion chiller, remocing the maltpipe etc etc.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask other questions.

Thank you for your answer.
I was interested on the 20 liter braumeister .What about its efficiency ? As I can see from your other posts I can guess that needs specific milling. Is it comperable in efficiency with a simple set up of brewing kettle and plastic cooler with single infusions and simple sparging?
Also how long can take a brew session with it?
Sorry for so many questions but there is'nt many information in English language .

Thank you in advance

Hi

A brew session takes about the same as with a conventional system, say 6 hours if you include washing the system before and after.

The efficiency is about 75% if you add a gallon of sparge water when the malt pipe is in drain position. If you pause the braumeister and stir the mash a couple of time during mashing + sparging you can get about 85%. If you do nothing you get about 65%.
I used to stir in the mash, but i'm really lazy so now i'm happy with 75%
